My kids love using our old cameras.

Kellen just points the camera at things, tells whatever it is to say, "Cheese!" Then holds the shutter button down. Most of the time he doesn't actually take a picture. But sometimes he does. Here are some of his pictures.

On the other hand, Chase is an artist. He likes to take pictures of people, ornaments and Sadie. Here is some of his work. I am in a lot of picture because I will sit still and smile when he asks. Kellen screams, runs and hides.

He was trying to get a good picture of D-Rex's teeth. I think he did.

He was pretty far away from Mickey in the picture. I showed him how to zoom. He thinks that is a great trick.

I got my new camera on Monday. I have been snapping pictures like crazy. Unfortunately I can only wonder around my house to take these pictures. I'm a little uninspired. One can only take so many pictures of holiday decorations and kids for so long. I am learning the ins and outs of my camera though. And there is absolutely no harm in practice. I'm learning to take picture using Av mode with a 18-55mm lens. It is so fun not using auto focus. Yesterday I practiced with the 75-300mm lens and a tripod. I had some success, but again without being able to leave the house I'm a little bored.

I've always loved pictures; looking, taking and displaying. Only recently have I become completely obsessed with photography....I like to call myself a serious amateur. Thanks to my muse, Pinterest. Not only can I look at beautiful pictures all in only special place, I can read tutorials about basic photography and learn more. The best part about digital photography is that it's FREE to practice. I can take my really nice point and shoot camera, with great extra features, and learn the basics.

I have been practicing and practicing and practicing. Luckily, the weather has been wonderful and I've been able to be outside taking pictures of the boys on their adventures.

Today, I get to take some pictures of my friends beautiful family. I'm very excited and hope I come up with some great pictures.

I wish, so much, for a better camera...like this one...

...but that is not in the cards. And for now, it is probably good that I have what I have. A great camera for a beginner.

After days and days of Chase telling us he didn't want to wear his costume, go trick or treating and not dressing up for his school party, he decided at 4:30pm today that he did want to trick or treat. It may have something to do with Kellen wanting to wear his old costume though...I'll take it. I had rework Chase's costume from last year so it would fit. Then I had to create a costume for Kellen. We went around our small neighborhood then Chase wanted to head over to the gigantic neighborhood across the street. They both had a blast. Came home with lots of candy and are asleep as I type. Happy Halloween!!!

Today was the Portland Marathon's 10k Downhill Dash. I ran it in 1:02:09...A PR for me. I'm slow and proud of it. I like to finish my races with a smile. I did today.

This weekend is the Portland Pirate Festival. I took the boys. They had an okay time. Chase loved the big slides. Kellen loved all the pirates and swords.

Inflatable Octopus slide. Chase went down it a dozen times.

Kellen was very worried when one of pirates fell to the ground.

Hours of my day are taken up with transitions. I might exaggerate a bit. But it sure feels that way sometimes. Does it really need to take 30 minutes to get from daycare to the car in the parking lot? Apparently it does when you have a 3.5 year old who hate going anywhere. He hates going to school and once he is there he hates leaving. He hates going to the playground, then throws a fit when we leave. Ugh. Then there is little Kellen who wants to walk everywhere (but never in the same direction as us), touch everything, and carry all his own stuff. He's so independent.
It's not like I had somewhere to be yesterday. I was just ready to go home and it was taking a century to get out of there.
Today took some time. But instead of crying while we were leaving Chase waited to get in the car. Then after asking me for a kiss (sweet), which I gave to him. As we were driving away Chase decided it was the right way and demanded I stop the car, get out and fix it. Uh, no. When we get to the house in <5 minutes I would be happy to. That wasn't working for him so he cried the whole way home. When we arrived home I asked him if he'd like another kiss and he said, NO!

We woke up today with another couple of inches of snow. And a call cancelling school. Yahoo. Chase loves playing in it. Kellen loves watching it from inside. Kyle likes having the day off. I hate it. It means I can't run. We are stuck inside. And it's really cold. I'm ready for some warmer weather. Anything around 55* would be fine.

11 Step Program for those thinking of having kids

I found this online...I wanted to repost and share. It's too funny and so true. Enjoy!

Lesson 1

1. Go to the grocery store.

2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.

3. Go home.

4. Pick up the paper.

5. Read it for the last time.

Lesson 2

Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are parents and berate them about their...

1. Methods of discipline.

2. Lack of patience.

3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.

4. Allowing their children to run wild.

5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breastfeeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior.

Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.

Lesson 3

A really good way to discover how the nights might feel...

1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)

2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep.

3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1AM.

4. Set the alarm for 3AM.

5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch an infomercial.

6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.

7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off.

8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.

9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and be productive)

Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together.

Lesson 4

Can you stand the mess children make? T o find out...

1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.

2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer.

3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.

4. Then rub them on the clean walls.

5. Take your favorite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.

6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does that look?

Lesson 5

Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.

1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.

2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out.

Time allowed for this - all morning.

Lesson 6

Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like that.

1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment.

Leave it there.

2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.

3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot.

4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.

Lesson 7

Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week's groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.

Lesson 8

1. Hollow out a melon.

2. Make a small hole in the side.

3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.

4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.

5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.

6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.

You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby.

Lesson 9

Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's 'Noggin'?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 10

Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying 'mommy' repeatedly. (Important: no more than a four second delay between each 'mommy'; occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 11

Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the 'mommy' tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.

This is all very tongue in cheek; anyone who is parent will say 'it's all worth it!' Share it with your friends, both those who do and don't have kids. I guarantee they'll get a chuckle out of it. Remember, a sense of humor is one of the most important things you'll need when you become a parent

2010 Wrap-Up / 2011 Resolutions

We have been so blessed this year. We have healthy bodies & minds. We have so much love. And we have a wonderful circle of friends and family.

Here are some of the 2010 highlights:

* Kyle turned 36, I turned 30, Chase turned 3 and Kellen turned 1.

* Chase is potty trained.

* Kellen started walking and talking.

* Kyle's hunting party shot an elk.

* I started running and ran in my first, second, third & fourth 5k races.

* Kyle's football team lost in the second round of play-offs.

* Sadie turned 9 years old.

* Chase started Preschool...and loves it.

* Kellen is in daycare...he likes it. But loves home much more.

* Wroblewski's family reunion at Running Y Ranch in Klammath Falls. We had so much fun.

* We bought a mini-van.

* We remodeled our family-room.

* I returned to work.

* Kyle started his 12th years of teaching.

2011 Resolutions

I really don't believe in New Years resolutions. I do believe in setting small attainable goals.

* I will run my first 8k in March.

* Kellen potty trained before 2012.

* Camp more.

* Hike more.

* Grow my hair long.

* Eat less candy.

This is the x-ray of Chase's stomach. He swallowed a magnet. The pediatrician insisted we take him to the ER to have an x-ray. She was worried there may be two magnets...I was sure there was only one. But we went anyway.

Chase was scared but after the nurse gave him a couple of Clifford books and a few Thomas stickers he was in love.

The ER doctor's instructions are to let it "pass".

December Hike

We decided to embark on a hike today...it was clear and cold. we drove 30 minutes into the forest the hiked about 2 miles. it took forever. it was fun. chase was wiped so he rode the was back...the wheel-barrel was the reason. kyle left it up there during elk hunting season.

this first picture, however, is on our drive to the trail head...kyle wanted to show chase some "fossils" chase loved it and continued to look for fossils the rest of the trip.

thats right...i'm 30 and i love it. a couple of weeks ago kyle threw me a surprise party...i was totally surprised...i really had no clue. it was great. kyle is amazing.

yesterday, oct. 6, was pretty low key day, wednesday, no excitement.

i just want to thank my wonderful husband, kyle, for taking the time to make my 30th so special. all my other family and friends who helped...you ALL are amazing.

We picked out the boys Halloween costumes this week. Chase was, of course, obsessed with his. From this picture you would never know but Kellen didn't like his much...oh well...he will be adorable.

Both boys are growing up so fast. Kellen is such a cutie...the typical baby of the family. Fun, funny, lovable, happy, eats tons of food, loves to give hugs, happiest in my arms (my favorite part).

I looked at Chase today and noticed what a big boy he is becoming. So smart and handsome. He started Preschool and it's going great. He is learning, playing, socializing and, most importantly, having fun. He loves his teacher and the other boys in the class. He can name all the boys...but if you ask what are names of the girls, his response, "I don't know." He is really getting into art, finally. He is also learning to write his name and he is very proud.
I picked this lawn mower up at a garage sale for $1. He loves "helping" Dad mow the lawn.

One last thing...I didn't think there was much difference between my old and new camera...I, however, was clearly wrong. The first two pics are taken with my old Canon...it was close so I grabbed it and shot. The last three were taken with my new Samsung...WOW! What a difference. Love it.
